Handsome Ghost still has a few surprises in store before their The Brilliant Glow EP drops Friday. Not only are we treated to the excellent new track “Promises” as the final preview to the EP, but also the official announcement of Handsome Ghost’s headlining tour in December, both exclusive to Billboard.

For Handsome Ghost, the electronic project conceived by Boston native Tim Noyes, these two reveals go hand-in-hand. "I wrote ‘Promises’ on tour, which is rare for me,” Noyes says. “I'm usually too scattered on the road to sit down and work.”

The only signs of the dysfunction and disorder from writing on the road appear in the lyrics, when Noyes reflects on his past faults and their repercussions. However, much like the overarching redemptive message in the lyrics, the song is full of clear-eyed purpose.

“For a long stretch there, I was a bit of an unreliable person, I think I let a lot of people down.” Noyes says, “[‘Promises’] is my pledge to all those people that I'm going to do better.”

The song proves Handsome Ghost is not only going to be a better person, but a stronger artist. The production is sharp and touts an expansion of sound that gives “Promises” an anthemic air. Although many of his previous releases were rooted in the sounds of actual instrumentation, Noyes seems to have grown into the electronic aesthetic that led to 2015’s viral smash “Blood Stutter.”

“[‘Promises’] lives, at least partially, in the pop world, but I don't think it sacrifices the emotion or depth that I try and capture when I write,” Noyes says. “People push you towards pop, and that's fine, but I try to find that balance, the middle ground that can be really elusive, and I think ‘Promises’ toes that line."

The Brilliant Glow EP will be released Friday on Photo Finish Records. Following the release, Handsome Ghost will resume touring as the main support on Melanie Martinez's Cry Baby tour and will embark on a headlining tour of their own in December.
