Emily Estefan Inks Distribution Deal With RED: Exclusive

Emily Estefan
Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s daughter, Emily Estefan, has signed a partnership for physical and digital distribution with RED Distribution via her indie label, Alien Shrimp Records. The young Estefan, who has been releasing singles independently since 2015, will release a new single, “Reigns (every night),” via RED in September with an album due in 2017.

Don’t for a moment think that Estefan does Latin music or sounds like her mom (even though her speaking voice is uncannily similar). With a recent degree in contemporary writing and production from Berklee College of Music, and stage experience as a drummer and guitarist, Estefan sings atmospheric, bluesy/loungey tracks with electronic and funk beats. While the voice sometimes sounds like her mother’s, it definitely has it's own distinct sound.

The new deal will have RED distributing Alien Shrimp Records’ entire roster for the next three years. Estefan founded the label with the hopes that it will be a home for other up and coming artists with unique sounds. “A home should support who you truly are, not shape you to be what others want you to be,” said Estefan in a statement. “I am beyond thrilled to call Sony/RED Distribution my new musical home. They took on this little Alien Shrimp with no questions asked, and opened the door to my U.F.O.”
