Spears -- who has 28 VMA nominations and 5 wins -- announced the news via a video created by L.A.-based experimental director Radical Friend that calls back to some of the singer's iconic VMA performances from the past, including her 1999 debut medley of "Baby One More Time/ Tearing Up My Heart" with 'NSYNC and, of course, her infamous 2003 Madonna kiss.
