Britney Spears superfan Dave LeCours II posted an open letter to his superstar idol on The Huffington Post thanking her for helping him through a dark time with her music and, in turn, saving his life.
“Two years ago around this time I was meeting you, my idol and inspiration, for the second time at your iconic Piece of Me show,” LeCours wrote. “You might not remember me, but you have changed my life.”

LeCours recalls how at the time he had come out to friends and family but felt “lonely” and “depressed,” and it was Spears’ song “Stronger” that inspired him to make a change. The fan met Spears in the summer of 2014 during her Vegas residency, during which LeCours gave the pop star a letter explaining how her music had inspired LeCours to open up about his depression to his friends and family. Spears wrote back to the letter, calling LeCours "courageous" for being honest about his sexuality and telling him to "keep smiling."

Their correspondence continued Monday (Aug. 1) with LeCours' open letter. “Because of you, someone’s life was saved," he wrote. "I love you so much and again, thank you for everything.”
