Harry Styles of One Direction arrives at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Garden Arena on May 17, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Where do broken hearts go?

Teens all over the world are freaking out because -- and I hope you're sitting down for this -- Harry Styles, member of One Direction, has gone and cut off his long locks.

The evidence? Styles posted a photo on Instagram of himself holding his chopped ponytail ("whoops"), while giving the camera a thumbs up. In a true that's-what-makes-you-beautiful twist, the reason Styles is now rocking a cropped look is because he's donating his hair to Little Princess Trust, a U.K.-based charity that provides wigs for children who've lost their hair to cancer treatments.

As expected, #RIPHarrysHair became the top trending topic on Twitter Friday afternoon (May 6), with fans remembering the good times they shared with Harry's long hair (i.e staring at it in concert). A photo of Styles rocking his new do has yet to emerge, but fans are already confident it's perfect

Whoops. #Littleprincesstrust
