Sheriff Has 'No Reason' to Suspect Prince's Death Was Suicide
In a press conference held by Minnesota's Carver County Sheriff Office on Friday (April 22), Sheriff Jim Olson told reporters that Prince's death isn't being treated like a suicide.
"We have no reason to believe at this point that this was a suicide," said Olson, though he was not able to reveal much else about the department's ongoing investigation, reminding the gathered reporters that the office's investigation is just "29 hours old."
The sheriff added that "there was no sign of trauma at all," describing trauma as "some sign of violence."
Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park on Thursday morning and was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m. Prince's cause of death is currently unknown. An autopsy was completed on Friday, though the results will likely not be available for weeks, a medical examiner spokeswoman said at the press conference.
