Prince and Beyonce perform the opening act of the 46th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 2004.

"I was on the stage with Prince?! Are you serious?" Even Beyonce couldn't help but be star-struck by the Purple One, as she recalled in a 2012 interview with Giant magazine, during which she discussed her 2004 Grammys performance with the late icon.

"Of course I was terrified to be working with him," she recalls in the clip. "Walking into rehearsals, I was just so overwhelmed and nervous and star-struck. We rehearsed every day for an hour for a week, instead of six hours the day before. That was so smart, it was Prince's idea -- I guess he knows people are star-struck because he's so amazing. It made me really comfortable, by the time it was time to do it, it was second nature."

She added of their end-of-show glance, "Right before he whispered, 'At the end, make this face' -- we did it, and that moment was so great. He kept saying, 'Don't be scared, c'mon, belt it out.' He could see that I was holding back in rehearsals -- but I let it out when it was time!"
