Denmark-Bred Soulstress Marie Dahlstrom Drops New Single 'Crashing Down': Exclusive

Denmark-bred soul singer Marie Dahlstrom may not be a household name yet in the States, but she’s been serving up her own unique cocktail of alt-R&B since way back in 2011, when she released her first EP Feelings. That set earned her a whopping three (!) Scandinavian Soul Awards in 2013, and she's up for another this year.

But after earning international praise by way of her 2015 single “Look the Other Way” alongside Sophie Faith -- which was compared to Brandy and Monica’s iconic “The Boy Is Mine,” FYI -- she returns with the follow-up “Crashing Down,” premiering exclusively via Billboard:

"Crashing down is about the feeling of always searching, instead of being present in the moment. It's about giving in, and realizing that you're exactly where you need to be," Marie tells Billboard. "Life is a big puzzle and many things have to be juggled at the same time, for better and for worse. This song is a reflection of that process."

The glossy anthem-in-the-making was mixed by Qmillion (two-time Grammy winner for his work with Robert Glasper) and produced by Joe Garrett, who is credited on -- wait for it --Zayn’s smash single “Pillowtalk.” And if those industry titans aren't enough proof Marie is the real deal, keep an eye out for her upcoming EP set for release later this year.
