Little Mix, surfboards and awards for Vine stars: here are the reasons you need to watch the TCAs on Sunday.

Ahh, the Teen Choice Awards. For those of us in a certain age demo (or those of us who wish they still were), this is the event of the year. Surfboards, celebrities, fashion to die for: the annual event is truly one of a kind. Want the glamor of the Grammys but the playfulness of the Kids Choice Awards? Look no further.

15 Awesome Pop Songs You Might Have Missed This Summer

We're headed to the event on Sunday (Aug. 16) at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, and we can't wait. Need to know what to expect from this year's TCAs? Here are the 10 things we're most looking forward to!
1. The Red Carpet Looks
Here's the thing: Half the fun of any award show experience is watching your respective faves slay the carpet on their way in. The Teen Choice Awards are especially exciting because musicians, models, actors and more all get to rock clothes that are a bit more fun -- it's a mix of casual cool and glam in a way that other award ceremonies can't get down with.
2. The Hosts
Though they're often the crutch on which the entire award show industry leans, hosts sometimes don't get the love they so deserve. This year, the teen world gets three celebs: Josh Peck (yes, that Josh Peck, the Drake & Josh goofball turned Vine hottie,) Gina Rodriquez (star of the critical darling Jane the Virgin) and Ludacris. An eclectic crew, to say the least, but one with a lot of promise.
3. Little Mix's First TV Performance of "Black Magic"

If you're unfamiliar with this bombastic single from the U.K. girl group, please, familiarize yourself. The video is great too, serving The Craft realness and highlighting the affable personalities of each British bombshell. For older fans of girl groups, this is a modern twist on the Spice Girls.
4. 5 Seconds of Summer's First TV Performance of "She's Kinda Hot"

Our favorite boys from Down Under are taking the Teen Choice Awards stage for what is sure to be a memorable performance of their latest single, "She's Kinda Hot." The tune features a lot more of drummer Ashton Irwin than we're used to; hopefully he can redeem himself for his slightly embarrassing, mostly hilarious in-shower video acceptance speech. You know the one.
5. The Digital Categories
Since the Teen Choice Awards reflect teenagerdom in all its glory, there are a few categories dedicated to those who are blessed by Internet greatness. That's right, folks: You get to vote for your favorite Fandom, YoutTuber, Fashion/Beauty Web Star, Instagrammer, Social Media Queen (the fierce Caitlyn Jenner is up for this one), Viner and more.
6. The Categories In General
Did you know that this is the first year fans were given the opportunity not only to vote, but to design the categories? That's right: the reason this year is especially dynamic is because it's truly run by the fans. What other award show can say that?
7. The Stars of Empire

Little Mix and 5 Seconds of Summer aren't the only ones lighting up the stage during the Fox telecast on Sunday.Jussie Smollett and Bryshere Gray of Empire will be there, and hopefully their performance will shed some light on the highlight anticipated second season of the smash hit.
8. Celebrity Appearances!
Even if they're not performing, you can expect to see tons of A-listers hopping onstage, either when they win that coveted surfboard award or when they present it to someone who does. So, who is scheduled to show up? Tyler Oakley, Bethany Mota, Sarah Hyland, Vin Diesel and Britney Spears, among others!
9. Celeb Families
Since the Teen Choice Awards are a family-friendly award show, we're totally expecting to see the moms, dads, sisters and brothers of some of Hollywood's elite. Really want to get the dirt on Ansel Elgort? Ask his fam!
10. The Surfboards
This should come as no surprise, but what's better than seeing your favorite stars get recognition? The truly fun part is watching them carry the giant surfboard award with them. When you're as tiny as Ariana Grande, it's no easy feat!
