5 Seconds of Summer’s new single “She’s Kinda Hot” is an anthem for the outsiders, and in the official music video for the song, the Australian pop-punk group serve as a sort of Pied Piper for the neighborhood misfits. Check out the “She’s Kinda Hot” clip below:

Ashton, Luke, Michael and Calum are shown designing some sort of contraption at the beginning of the clip as the song’s various tales of teenage struggle are played out. Eventually (specifically, when the chorus hits), 5SOS emerges from its garage and unveils their project: it’s a badass light-up car! The group proceeds to perform “She’s Kinda Hot” while gradually gathering an army of supporters — which is basically what 5 Seconds of Summer has done as a band over the past three years.

"We kind of planned on it being a song of revolution for our fans,” 5SOS’s Ashton Irwin recently told Billboard, “and we made up the lyric 'We are the kings and the queens of the new broken scene,' and the idea of the 'new broken scene' is of a revolution for our fans to get behind. It's almost for the misfits and stuff like that, and it's for us to give our fans a place to belong.”

“She’s Kinda Hot,” which was co-written with Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte, precedes 5 Seconds of Summer’s next studio album, due out later this year. Click here to listen to 5SOS’s recent appearance on the Pop Shop Podcast.
