Former One Direction member Zayn Malik has taken to Twitter to speak highly of the band’s new single, “Drag Me Down.”

“Proud of my boys," Malik tweeted, adding that "the new single is sick."

“Drag Me Down” -- written by Jamie Scott, John Ryan and Julian Bunetta, and produced by Ryan and Bunetta -- hit the Internet earlier in the week, to the surprise of fans. The unexpected new track jumped to the top of the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 shortly after its release. On July 31, One Direction performed the song live for the first time, in Indianapolis.

Malik, meanwhile, recently shared the news that he’s signed a solo deal with RCA.
