A member of the British boy band Rewind collapsed on an airplane Wednesday due to heat exhaustion caused by wearing all his clothes in order to avoid £45 in additional luggage charges.

James McElvar, 19, had been wearing 12 layers of clothing after emptying a bag of all its contents and putting it all on, The Sun reports. And even though he took them off when the flight from from Stansted, Essex, to the quintet's hometown of Glasgow was airborne, McElvar reportedly became violently ill and suffered a fit.

Fortunately for McElvar, an off-duty paramedic was onboard and able to treat him.

"I thought I was a goner and that I was having a heart attack," McElvar told The Sun

McElvar had apparently had a clash with check in staff over his baggage, leading to the circumstance that brought on incident.
