Jenny from The Block is hitting The Strip! Earlier today, the singer/reality TV  judge took to Instagram to tease that she would be making a “huge announcement tonight.” The news, which she shared live during Tuesday’s part one of the American Idol Season 14 finale, was the debut of her upcoming Planet Hollywood residency.

Backstage in the pressroom, Jennifer Lopez divulged more about her plans, calling it the show that she always wanted to create. “Touring is a different animal and to be in one place and really build a show exactly how I’ve always imagined, I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” she explained.

Jennifer Lopez Announces Las Vegas Residency

Beginning Jan. 20 2016, fans will be able to purchase tickets to the singer’s biggest endeavor yet. “It's going to be everything that I think fans have to come know me for onstage. I'll have dancers, I’ll have Latin, hip-hop, I’ll have all of it,” she said. “It will be a high-energy amazing show that anybody can come and see.”

As far as tonight’s American Idol results, Lopez told reporters that she was shocked to see Jax cast off, especially given the promising contestant’s tremendous social media following. “I thought she was the strongest girl contestant in many many years, so that was a huge surprise. I'm a little disappointed too. I thought she could have actually won the whole thing,” she admitted.

While she wouldn’t reveal who she was cheering for, JLo did confirm that America’s Top 2 had impressed her. “Clark and Nick are great artists and I've been saying all night it's like apples and oranges. Clark has this amazing voice and great presence and he really knows how to get the audience but Nick has a totally different thing going on. I think honestly Nick’s last song tonight shows you the type of artist that he could be and I would love to have an artist like that in the world. So we’ll see.”

Before exiting the stage, the “If You Had My Love” singer confirmed that she will in fact be back for Idol’s Season 15 but revealed that she was weary about the show coming to an end. “I'm sad about the show ending of course. Do I believe it's really ending? I have not come to terms with that yet. it might not. You never know these things? But it’s sad to hear that kind of news. I'm glad that we have another year – that we get to have a farewell season, if that is the case and it will be over next year."
