One Direction performs at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival on Sept. 20, 2014.

One Direction's fourth album, Four, is almost here!

In the leadup, we're looking back on their music videos, from "What Makes You Beautiful" to "Steal My Girl." While they all have their charming moments (Hiiii, Harry Styles & Louis Tomlinson in the "Kiss You" vid!), many of them also have their fair share of "Did that really just happen?" cutaways.

Surely you noticed something was going on in 1D world while watching the recent "Steal My Girl" video, which featured monkeys, sumo wrestlers, wrecking balls, balloons and so much more, so we decided to look back at the evolution of the guys' music videos. They're definitely getting decidedly weirder.

One Direction’s 10 Biggest Billboard Hits

Don't believe us? Check out the proof below.

1. "What Makes You Beautiful"
Just five lads chilling on a beach. We were all so innocent then!

2. "Kiss You"
This video ups the "Sure Why Not" element (the guys in a jailhouse; the five dancing on a ski slope), but still has an air of normal because the overall story is the dudes on various film sets. We see what you're doing, 1D, and we're into it.

3. "Midnight Memories"
Nothing to see here, just two old ladies checking out Harry Styles. No further explanation needed.

4. "Best Song Ever"
Hey, remember that time Zayn Malik dressed up as a woman and flirted with Styles? (Related: This is One Direction's very best video moment.)

5. "Best Song Ever" (Yes, again.)
Not to be outdone, Tomlinson, channeling Tropic Thunder, is now all grown up and balding, and even sports some serious body hair.

6. "You & I"
Exhibit A that the One Direction videos have now fully crossed over into weird? Meet multiple Liams, Zayns and Nialls on the pier, in the clip for this Midnight Memories release.

7. "Steal My Girl"
Fans of the video know that the monkey is but one goofy cutaway (See also: Danny DeVito).

The quest to out-WTF themselves for Four's next single begins now.

If you've got a silly idea, these guys would clearly love to hear from you.
