Momentum is R5’s side. As the pop-rock family band fronted by 18-year-old Disney Channel star Ross Lynch sees its single “(I Can't) Forget About You” hit radio, that means heading into summer the group's hectic schedule isn't about to settle down anytime soon. All the while, its frontman continues his role in “Austin & Ally” and will also return to reprise his starring role in the Disney Channel original “Teen Beach Movie” sequel that recently got the green light.

Speaking with Billboard’s Keith Caulfield at the Radio Disney Music Awards in Los Angeles on April 26, Lynch and his band of brothers (and sister, and friend) spoke about the band’s growing profile and teased a sophomore release in the works.

With “(I Can't) Forget About You” seeing radio play, the band’s summer schedule will include plenty of radio festivals. That’s something Lynch is looking forward too, he said, as it will position them to play for music fans who might not have otherwise gotten out to see the band live.

“I’m really proud of that song,” says Ross Lynch. “I think it’s a good bridge point for R5. I think it’s gonna take us places.”
