Bleachers' 'I Wanna Get Better' Video: Lena Dunham Directs Jack Antonoff's Solo Debut

"I Wanna Get Better," the debut single from Jack Antonoff's new project Bleachers, finds the fun. guitarist demanding self-improvement, spitting out the four-word title of the track with increasing passion. Fittingly, the music video for the single, which was directed by Antonoff's girlfriend Lena Dunham and launched on Thursday (Mar. 27), finds Antonoff playing a psychiatrist, idly watching his colorful assortment of patients cling to the phrase until he adopts it himself.

The "I Wanna Get Better" video opens as a sprawling, "Girls"-esque intro into the cracked world of Antonoff's character, who tries in vain to chase down his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend (and her lamp). Then the video shifts toward the problems of Antonoff's patients (hey there, Retta!), who lip-sync along to "I Wanna Get Better" until forming a gloriously weird rock collective.

Antonoff worked on the Bleachers album, due out this spring on RCA Records, in secret over the past year and a half, while touring the world with fun.. "I didn't want to talk about it before, because I hate the idea of things being hyped that don't exist yet," Antonoff told Billboard last month. "It's not just 'a single coming out' -- it's now finally being able to openly talk about this thing I've been working on, the fact that this album exists, what it sounds like… I wanted there to be music before anything."
