Icona Pop Looking Forward To Miley Cyrus & Katy Perry Tours In 2014

Swedish pop duo expects both tours to be "a big party."

Icona Pop has already plotted the first half of its 2014 after breaking out with the Top 10 smash "I Love It" this year, as Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo will be opening for Miley Cyrus' Bangerz world tour beginning in mid-February and joining Katy Perry for the U.K. leg of her Prismatic tour starting in early May. Both members of the Stockholm duo tell Billboard that they're "super excited" to be part of two of next year's most high-profile pop music treks.

"We think they are two really awesome acts and amazing artists, so we feel very honored," says Hjelt, of Cyrus and Perry. "And we know that they both are very involved when it comes to choosing who they want to have as a warm-up act."

Hjelt and Jawo will help Cyrus kick off the Bangerz tour (with Sky Ferreira also aboard as an opening act) on Feb. 14 in Vancouver, and when the run's North American leg concludes on Apr. 24, Icona Pop will fly across the pond and be in Belfast on May 7 for Prismatic's opening night. Although Icona Pop has yet to spend extended time with either Cyrus or Perry, their fandom was apparently evident when they met both pop singer.

"We met Katy Perry, and we were like, 'Hey, we want to go on tour with you, we love you and we love your music!'" says Jawo. Hjelt adds, "And then we met Miley as well, and she's super cool. Of course, it's all about the music, but we're also very honored that we're going to go [on tour] with both of those personalities. It's going to be a fun tour -- both of them -- because they'll be a big party."

In 2013, Icona Pop released their debut album, "This Is… Icona Pop"; sold 2.6 million downloads of "I Love It," their anthemic ode to recklessness featuring Charli XCX; and performed on a slew of late-night TV shows as well as the Billboard Music Awards stage. "There's been so many moments this year where we've been pinching ourselves in the arm and just been like, 'Wow, is this for real?'" says Jawo. "We had our first headlining tour -- that was something that was really special to us, to have our own tour bus, to have our own crew, to do it every single night and everything being completely our way. It was such a cool thing."

"I Love It," of course, is gracing a handful of year-end singles lists, as one of the defining pop songs of 2013. So what was Icona Pop's favorite pop song of the year?

"I love [Miley Cyrus'] 'Wrecking Ball,'" says Hjelt, giving a nod to her future touring partner. "I've been singing that song so many times. I think it's a great song. You see a different side of her."
