It’s been an emotional year for One Directioners. The boyband went from five members to four. And those four announced they would take a break from One Direction service from March 2016.  And, in case you were living under a rock somewhere on a distant planet, 1D has a new album out.

So, put all of those pieces together and the group’s appearance overnight on Jimmy Kimmel Live was a special one.

The lads -- Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – performed an open-air set on Sunset Boulevard consisting of “Love You Goodbye,” "Perfect" and “History” from the new album, Made in the A.M., "No Control" from last year’s Four and “Story of My Life” from 2013’s Midnight Memories

The singers also stuck around to answer some questions in the studio, and address that upcoming break. It turns out, they're keen to travel. Despite visiting more countries each year than most of us do in a lifetime, the artists don't get to enjoy the full experience. "We do go to a lot of places," noted Horan. "I think I've driven past some of the biggest monuments but never actually stopped beside them."
