Harry Styles and Niall Horan may be doing their own thing, but Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne will still be together -- at least a bit -- during One Direction's upcoming hiatus.

In a new interview, Tomlinson assured fans that during the break he and Payne -- two of the more prolific writers of the band -- would continue to write music together.

“I enjoy that, with Liam. But it’s all kind of up in the air at the moment,” he told Entertainment Weekly, adding, “We definitely will. I’m sure we will.”

Tomlinson also told the magazine that the hiatus the band will be taking in 2016 has been blown a bit out of proportion by enthusiastic fans. "Five years, five albums, four tours … I’m sure it appears alarming when we say we’re going on a break, but in reality, it’s such a normal thing. If you look at other bands and other artists, they [go on breaks] all the time. It really isn’t as big and dramatic as it’s been made out, but our intention and our love is for the band and that’s always going to be the case.”
