Kylie Minogue & Iggy Pop Join Forces to Cover '80s Classic 'Christmas Wrapping'
Leather-skinned punk progenitor and Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue are teaming up for a duet on her upcoming Christmas album. Even stranger (and better), they're not tackling a traditional holiday standard, but rather remaking The Waitresses' New Wave-meets-rap cult classic "Christmas Wrapping." Thank you, Santa.
Kylie Christmas will drop Nov. 13 and feature collabos with James Corden, her sister Dannii Minogue and even a ghost of Christmas past: Frank Sinatra will appear on the album posthumously to duet with Minogue on "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town."
The Pop/pop pairing is the song that has us most excited for Kylie Christmas, though. The Waitresses -- an under-appreciated band best known for the sneering minor hit "I Know What Boys Like" -- gifted "Christmas Wrapping" unto the world in 1981, creating a lovable Christmas curio and one of the first pop/rock songs to feature rapping. (Wrapping/rapping, get it?)
