Drake's sticky-sweet "Hotline Bling" has been steadily climbing the charts since its release back in July (when it was billed as part of the package of Meek Mill diss tracks), garnering covers by everyone from R&B upstart Alessia Cara to Sam Smith and Disclosure in the process.

Erykah Badu Brings Soul to 8th Annual Roots Picnic: Concert Review

Now, soul legend Erykah Badu has put her own spin on the track (which itself is a remix of D.R.A.M.'s summer anthem "Cha Cha") with a seven-plus minute take that starts off with a fairly faithful rendition, and ends up somewhere completely different.

The track is, according to its SoundCloud description, co-written by Seven Benjamin (Badu's teenage son with Outkast's Andre 3000) -- and even briefly samples (perhaps just a touch shadily) Mr. Three Stacks' iconic "Forever-ever?" off Outkast single "Ms. Jackson." The only song on Badu's SoundCloud, it is also apparently the first release off an upcoming mixtape BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE (...when you need to call Tyrone).
