Who Said It: Azealia Banks or Ann Coulter?
After Azealia's latest anti-gay tirade, it's time to pit her against a veteran offender!
Azealia Banks is an undeniably talented hip-hop artist, but casual purveyors wouldn’t know it based on the frequency with which she makes news for doing or saying something immensely off-color. On Sunday (Sept. 27), Banks posted a message on Twitter (which she has since deleted) that read, “LGBT community (GGGG) are like the gay white KKK’s. Get them some pink hoods and unicorns and let them rally down rodeo drive.”
Banks then defended her retracted comment on Twitter, portraying the LGBT community as “weaklings” and telling her detractors to not get so offended by her language. This isn’t the first time the Harlem MC has been blasted for her homophobic language — a viral video showed Banks hurling slurs toward a flight attendant on a plane last week, and the “212” creator has taken to Instagram to take on her gay fans in stunningly tone-deaf fashion.
The rapper has made a habit of spewing outrageous (read: hate-filled) quotes to gain attention… just like Ann Coulter, the ultra-conservative political commentator who has made a career of stirring the pot! Like Banks, Coulter is totally unafraid of saying things few rational people would say in public, and typically criticizes the gay community and similarly marginalized peoples with the result often being more headlines that feature her name.
How different are Azealia Banks and Ann Coulter? Based on some of their most “memorable” quotes, not very. See if you can tell which adult human actually said or wrote these lines! (Note: some quotes corrected for spelling.)(Second note: yes, these are all real quotes!)
