Demi Lovato Tweets Defense Of Her Sexy VMAs Performance: 'There's a Time And Place for Everything'
Demi Lovato took to Twitter early Friday morning to defend her MTV VMA’s performance.
Lovato rocked the VMA’s stage with a remix of “Cool for the Summer” featuring a surprise appearance by Iggy Azalea, but apparently there were some people who were surprised by the sexy performance, a departure from the feel-good anthems for which Lovato is best known.
One of those people in particular was singer P!NK who expressed her dissatisfaction with many VMA's performances for being "gross and embarassing" via her personal Instagram, which is set to private. The singer also added that she "felt sad because music is supposed to inspire."
Being that it's 2015, someone took a screenshot of P!NK's Instagram comment and it began making rounds on Twitter, especially among Demi Lovato fans.
Check out Demi's tweets below:
Cool For The Summer may not "save kid's lives" or "inspire" but I'd say Skyscraper & Warrior have done a pretty good job of helping people— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
cope with mental illness. VMA's are sexy and fun. There's a time and place for everything.— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
P!NK also tweeted to defend her comment:
Please look for a feud elsewhere. I have no issue with Demi Lovato or anyone else. I actually forgot she performed. I have opinions. MANY— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
I stand by what I said. However, I didn't intend for the angry people of the world to latch on and make it into something it isn't. Peace ✌️— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
You know, this is part of why I'm sad about the VMas and the world in general. Everyone is so nasty and waiting for a fight. I never said— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
Anything about Demi Lovato or called out anyone. I was talking to a friend in response to his disappointment about the show. I agree w him.— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
You can make this into whatever you like, cause that's who we are now, I guess. I'm out— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
Demi also promised that even if “Cool for the Summer” isn’t the inspirational song some people are expecting from her, they have a lot to look forward to on her upcoming album:
Lovato’s upcoming album Confident is set for an Oct. 16 release.
