Nile Rodgers, Chic co-founder and recent Daft Punk collaborator, is back with his first single in 23 years, titled "I'll Be There." Produced by superstar DJs The Martinez Brothers, the retro track hearkens back to the classic days of disco -- Chic's heyday -- with deep bass grooves and Rodgers' funky, distinctive guitar playing. Listening to "I'll Be There," it's easy to hear just how much Daft Punk and Pharrell owed the sounds of the 70s for their 2013 hit "Get Lucky."
The accompanying video, shot by fashion notables Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and featuring none other than supermodel Karlie Kloss, continues the throwback vibe. Kloss starts with Soul Train (as any disco fan should), gets into some classic Chic vinyl, and then ends up at a very swinging club (in a very swinging jumpsuit) where Rodgers and Chic happen to be playing. If you've ever had any trouble getting into the groove, Rodgers is here to help -- listen to "I'll Be There" below:
