Listen to Scarlett Johansson's Confectionery Pop Song 'Candy'

Scarlett Johansson seems to have developed a taste for sweets, at least when it comes to music.

After wading through denser stylings perviously, the actor and occasional singer has released a new song she called "super-pop," backed by a sort of super group of lady musicians.

Johansson's new outfit, called the Singles, includes Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris, Julia Haltigan and Este Haim of Haim on drums.

"The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls," Johansson told Rolling Stone, citing Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go's as influences. "I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke."

Their first song, "Candy," was produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, who previously worked with Johansson on her album of Tom Waits covers, Anywhere I Lay My Head. It's a sweet and salacious 3-minute electro jam, ready for the dance floor, chock full of candy-coated metaphors.

A 12-inch single with the song is available for pre-order here. Listen below:
