Cody Simpson is out of his contract with Atlantic Records and looking to redefine himself with a little help from Miley Cyrus

The 18-year-old Australian pop star recruited Cyrus to design the album art for his new song "Flower," shedding his former dance-pop stylings in favor for a more feet-in-the-sand Jack Johnson acoustic vibe.

Cyrus told Rolling Stone that Simpson "hit me up one morning" to ask for some help with the artwork when he was in a hurry to get it up on iTunes. But instead of going wild like we've seen with some of her art previously, she went minimal to match Simpson's new direction.

"I was being emo and was like, I'm going to just lay in bed and chill with my dogs all day," she said. "I shot it on some Polaroids, and then instead of complicating things, I said fuck it, I'm just going to shoot this shit on an iPhone."

"[I was] just trying to do something simple for him," she said. "I just wanted something where people didn't have a stereotypical idea of what he was and could just look at the song for what it is, because it's a fucking epic song."

The two met at Art Basel, Cyrus told Rolling Stone, and called him a "super nice dude and super fucking talented.... I hate for anyone to get stuck in their own name and their own brand of what they built. I should be less of a judgmental person because of how I've been judged, but sometimes even I can think of what you would expect Cody Simpson to be, and he's not what you expect him to be."

Cyrus said Simpson is also getting involved with her charity that assists homeless youth.

"I told her where I was headed, and she was stoked," Simspon said of Cyrus.  says of his pal's support. "I really admire how she's really unorthodox and fun."
