Shy Girls Song Premiere: Listen to 'Right, Alright' From New Mixtape
Shy Girls, the brilliantly emotional R&B project of Portland singer-songwriter Dan Vidmar, will follow the woozy six-song Timeshare EP with the soon-to-be-released 4WZ mixtape. "Right, Alright" takes the viscous beauty of songs like "Second Heartbeat" and "Still Not Falling" and presents Vidmar's most confident vocal take to date -- listen to the track from the forthcoming mixtape exclusively on Billboard.com below:
The unveiling of "Right, Alright" follows last month's release of the sleek, sexual track "Renegade," which has gathered 189,000 plays on Soundcloud. The new song finds Vidmar at his most vulnerable, murmuring the words of the title in a desperate attempt to repair his relationship.
"I love repetition," says Vidmar, pointing out that the sample at the beginning and throughout the track is from his pals in the Portland-based band Grammies. " I love restraint and clarity. I hope this song has some of that."
Shy Girls' 4WZ mixtape is expected to hit the Internet "any day now," says Vidmar, who released the Timeshare EP in 2013 and performed songs from the collection -- as well as his cover of Brandy's "Sittin' Up In My Room" -- at Lollapalooza last year. The forthcoming release will feature guests Rome Fortune, Antwon and Tei Shi.
