Rihanna meets her french fans during the shooting of her new video at Trocadero gardens on Dec. 18, 2014 in Paris, France.

We might not be getting a new Rihanna album in 2014 (only 12 days to go!), but the pop superstar is at the very least setting up the follow-up to 2012’s Unapologetic. Rih has been using the hashtag #R8 on Instagram over the past 24 hours (her new album would be her eighth), and on Thursday night (Dec. 18), the singer was mobbed by fans in Paris on what a fan site is describing as part of a video shoot.

“ran off set of an editorial shoot, straight into the arms of my fans... thank you french navy #r8,” Rihanna posted on Instagram with a photo showing herself surrounded by fans in front of the Eiffel Tower. As many Navy members have pointed out, a post on the French Rihanna fan site Rebelle Rihanna prior to the meeting asked diehards to come together and help film a “séquence vidéo” with their favorite pop artist.

Hours after the fan-filled Instagram post, Rihanna also shared a stark drawing of herself, with the simple caption, “#r8.” And now, we can all speculate about Rihanna’s album artwork!

Rihanna spent 2014 touring stadiums with Eminem, recording a single with Shakira and being named the creative director of Puma. Her next album is one of the most anticipated pop projects of the new year.
