Jessie J used a killer set of pipes — and a pair of famous friends in Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj — to score one of the year’s biggest hits with “Bang Bang,” which reached the Top 5 of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Unsurprisingly, the U.K. pop vocalist draws inspiration from the musical stars of the past and present, and crafts her sound based on a wide variety of influences.

Jessie J’s Virtuosic Vocal Muses playlist for Songza collects 50 songs that best reflect where the pop star’s aesthetic has originated, and where it stands today. From Donna Summer to Pharrell Williams to Elton John to her own single “Burnin’ Up,” this collection of hits gives a great sense of what sort of music drives Jessie artistically. Listen to the playlist below, which you can hear exclusively on Billboard:

“Music is moods and emotions, and moods and emotions change,” Jessie tells Billboard. “Some days I want to listen to classical and the next day hip hop. Depends on how I feel.”

The singer-songwriter, who released new album Sweet Talker in October, considers artists like Lauryn Hill, Beyonce, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin to be key influences in her career. As for what she strives for in her own sound, she says, “Melody, great vocal control, tone and a killer hook!”
