Gwen Stefani Stays Trippy in ‘Baby Don’t Lie’ Music Video
Gwen Stefani is back with a new single, “Baby Don’t Lie,” that updates the elastic pop sound of her first two solo albums. After being previewed on last night’s episode of The Voice, the official music video for “Baby Don’t Lie” has arrived, with a whole lot of funky shapes and loud colors. Watch below:
Tiptoeing down a morphing yellow road and showing off the first in her array of polka-dotted outfits, Stefani is all about that green screen in the “Baby Don’t Lie” music video, which was directed by Sophie Muller. A dance troupe eventually arrives to jazz up the clip a little, but the colorful video lacks the innovation of, say, Stefani’s “What You Waiting For?” visual.
Stefani's manager, Irving Azoff, revealed that the singer has been in Miami, recording new tracks with frequent collaborator (and Voice co-star) Pharrell Williams. Meanwhile, Interscope chairman John Janick revealed to Billboard that she's aiming for a December release date on a solo album, her first since 2006’s The Sweet Escape.
“Baby Don’t Lie” was released digital through Mad Love/Interscope and features Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella as producers.
