Taylor Swift may be gearing up for 1989, but her latest offering is so 2014.

The superstar covered Vance Joy's "Riptide" during a stop at the BBC Radio 1 Live Loungeon Thursday (Oct.9). Swift named the track "one of my favorite songs that has come out all year" before launching into her rendition, in which she stripped the song's production in favor of only her vocals and self-accompanied piano.

Swift's moving cover instantly ignited the Twittersphere, which sent "Riptide" roaring to No. 1 on the Trending 140 hours after the clip reached YouTube. The track follows current single "Shake It Off" as Swift's second consecutive song to top the chart.

Don't think Swift left "Shake" off the set list. During the same session, Swift also performed the hit -- rap section included! -- which debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in September.

Swift's last album, Red, contained the hits "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble," selling more than 1.2 million copies in its opening week and easily debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
