Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani present the Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Series award for 'The Colbert Report' to TV personality Stephen Colbert during the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theater on August 25, 2014.

Back in July, Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine told Billboard his band was collaborating with Gwen Stefani for their new album, V.

Well, that track, "My Heart Is Open," has finally surfaced, and it's an emotional piano ballad clearly crafted for Adult Contemporary radio domination.

“My Heart Is Open” will appear on Maroon 5’s very literally-titled fifth studio album, V, which drops Sept. 2.

Adam Levine opens solo in the first verse, spouting pleas like, “Take a chance on me, you won’t regret it.” His Voice co-star chimes in on the second verse and duets on and off throughout the somber track, which was co-written by Sia.

"It's cool for all of us to have [Stefani] on the record,” Valentine told Billboard. “And Adam won't shut up about how cool she is as a person. A lot of times when you meet your idols it's a letdown, but it's the opposite case with Gwen, apparently."

Valentine also told Billboard that No Doubt influenced the early incarnation of Maroon 5, Kara’s Flowers.

Stefani was on hand at the VMAs on Aug. 24, where Maroon 5 performed “Maps” and “One More Night.”
