G.R.L. Drops 'Ugly Heart' Single: Listen
Need a great new girl group jam in your life? G.R.L. has you covered.
New girl group G.R.L. has gotten some shine by collaborating with Pitbull on the Top 40 hit "Wild Wild Love," but now, the quintet has a deeply enjoyable single of its own to flaunt. Listen to "Ugly Heart," which leaked a few months back and was officially released on Tuesday (June 3):
Produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut, "Ugly Heart" starts with a few innocent ukulele strums before the five ladies of G.R.L. proclaim that they will move on from a failed relationship unscathed. Shrugging off "a boy so pretty with an ugly heart," the group uncovers the winning pop formula that previous single "Vacation" failed to unlock.
G.R.L. -- composed of Simone Battle, Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula Van Oppen -- has performed "Wild Wild Love" with Pitbull on "TODAY," "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The group was created by choreographer/director Robin Antin as a re-making of the best-selling girl group the Pussycat Dolls.
"It started off as just an idea, and it kept evolving and evolving," Bennett told Billboard last year. "When the music came, it wasn't as urban as the Pussycat Dolls. It was more of a pop group, and I think that's different about us."
