Over the weekend, a video surfaced that found pop superstar Justin Bieber telling a racist joke where the punchline included the N-word. The video in question was a few years old, and Bieber quickly issued an apology, writing, "I thought it was ok to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn't realize at the time that it wasn't funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance." He continued, "Five years ago I made a reckless and immature mistake and i'm grateful to those close to me who helped me learn those lessons as a young man. Once again....I'm sorry."

Of course, the just-surfaced video is simply the latest in Bieber's long line of recent controversies, which included a series of bizarre incidents on his Believe tour last year and an arrest on suspicion of DUI in January. If the video is indeed from five years ago, it comes from a simpler time for the Canadian star, who was readying his first "My World" EP in mid-2009.
