One Direction's 'You & I' Video: Shape-Shifting, Face-Swapping Fun

One Direction- video still from You & I

One gray sweater to rule them all.

After One Direction supported its "Midnight Memories" album with expansive videos for "Best Song Ever," "Story of My Life" and the title track, the quintet decided to keep things simple for fourth single "You & I," which relies on one static shot but some technical trickery that some keen pop-culture purveyors have compared to "The Craft."

The "You & I" video opens with Niall on a lonely pier, walking toward the camera in a gray sweater… but wait, then it's Liam! And then Harry! And so on. Eventually all five lads meet up on the overcast day, leaping into the suspended shots of themselves and kicking around a purple ball in a bout of good, British fun.

5 Seconds of Summer Goes Global - But They're Not The Next One Direction

"You & I" was announced as a new single last Friday (Apr. 11), with the 1D boys once again collaborating with director Ben Winston on the clip. The mid-tempo track is hoping to duplicate the success of "Story of My Life," the group's longest-lasting single from "Midnight Memories," which has peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100 and comes in at No. 23 this week.

Lest we forget, One Direction's stadium tour kicks off in a mere seven days, in Bogota, Colombia on Apr. 25.
