Lady Gaga Wants 'ARTPOP' Sequel Out 'Soon'
"There's a strong possibility I will release another volume of 'ARTPOP,'" the pop star says.
Lady Gaga has teased a full-length follow-up to "ARTPOP" in the past -- last October, before "ARTPOP" was even released, the pop singer declared that she had "lots of songs for ACT TWO!" during a Twitter Q&A, and one month later, she stated that she might have "Act II out from the album" before her new live show was finished. Last weekend, Gaga once again returned to the idea of an "ARTPOP" sequel -- and declared that she's hoping it sees a release "soon."
"I wrote a lot of songs when I was creating 'ARTPOP,'" Gaga said while guest-hosting American Top 40 for Ryan Seacrest this weekend (via NME). "When I was done working on them, I had a very specific idea of the concept for the first release of 'ARTPOP.'
"There's a strong possibility I will release another volume of 'ARTPOP,'" she continued, "and I'm really hoping that it's soon."
If Gaga's plan is indeed to incorporate an "ARTPOP" sequel into her upcoming live show, that means that a new album would presumably drop in the next month, before her artRave: the ARTPOP Ball tour kicks off in North America on May 4. Over the past week, Gaga has been previewing her upcoming live show during truncated performances at New York's closing Roseland Ballroom; the last show of her seven-night residency is scheduled for Monday night (Apr. 7).
As for the first volume of "ARTPOP," current single "G.U.Y." debuted at No. 76 on last week's Hot 100 chart, following the unveiling of its official music video last month. To date, "ARTPOP" has sold 685,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
