Lily Allen Drifts Away on 'Air Balloon': Hear The New Track
After unexpectedly returning to music with the scathing single "Hard Out Here," Lily Allen sheaths her sarcasm -- at least momentarily -- on "Air Balloon," a new song posted to her Twitter early on Monday morning (Jan. 13).
"Air Balloon" is more of a loopy lullaby than a slice of social commentary, with a nonchalant Allen singing, "Come meet me in the sky, I'll be waiting for you/And we can't hear what they say/Up in my air balloon, air balloon, air balloon." The song gets its toy piano arrangement, creaseless beat and offbeat Kurt Cobain shout-out partially from Shellback, who reportedly produced "Air Balloon" and co-wrote the track with Allen.
"Hard Out Here's" official music video, which premiered along with the song last November, has earned 17 million YouTube views, while the single has sold 39,000 downloads to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Hard Out Here" was the first taste of Allen's third studio album, set for release later this year; the U.K. songstress' last full-length, "It's Not Me, It's You," was released in 2009.
