Two weeks after Kings of Leon took on Robyn's "Dancing on My Own" for BBC's Radio 1's Live Lounge, the girls of HAIM lent a rock slant to another pop single, Miley Cyrus' No. 1 hit "Wrecking Ball." Watch below:
At first, Este, Daniella and Alana Haim flip the formula of Cyrus' smash on its head: instead of ratcheting up the intensity on the chorus, HAIM isolates a guitar riff and amplifies the vulnerability of the vocals. Eventually, a snapping drum pattern and a more forceful wailing adorn the hook, and the bridge is pure "wah-wah" swagger.
