Lisa Loeb

Loeb chats about her classic breakthrough No. 1 "Stay (I Missed You)" & more.

Welcome to the Billboard Chart Beat Podcast, where each week co-hosts Gary Trust and Trevor Anderson, from the Billboard charts department, discuss why what's on the charts … is on the charts, while also looking at current chart action in a historical context for even greater insights.

This week, Gary and Trevor recap Lil Nas X's latest record-extending frame on the Billboard Hot 100, as "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, reigns for a 19th week. Plus, we cover notable chart feats for Ariana Grande, Drake and more.

Joining as our very special guest is Lisa Loeb, as we count down the Hot 100's top 25 songs from 25 years ago this week (Aug. 13, 1994), when Loeb was breaking through with her Reality Bites soundtrack classic, "Stay (I Missed You)." Loeb recalls becoming the first artist ever to top the chart as an unsigned artist, going on to tour as part of the Lilith Fair and her more relatively recent segue to children's music, which has resulted in her first Grammy Award.

Also in the Hot 100's top 25 this week 25 years ago: hits by Madonna, Mariah Carey and Elton John (the first time around for The Lion King) and much more.
