Welcome back to the Coming Around Again podcast, part of the Pop Shop family, where host Andrew Unterberger and a variety of guests will be discussing notable anniversaries being celebrated in the music world.

This week on Coming Around Again, we're flashing back 10 years to Sept. 11, 2007, when hip-hop hosted the heavyweight bout of the year -- between superstar rappers 50 Cent and Kanye West. Though the two rappers were on relatively equal mainstream footing at the time, after Kanye won the much-hyped battle in rather decisive fashion -- with his Graduation outselling 50s Curtis by over a quarter-million -- West was established as the future of hip-hop, while 50 began a long commercial and artistic slide that he never quite recovered from.

Along with Billboard Hip-Hop Editor Carl Lamarre, we share our memories of the sales battle, and discuss how the Curtis and Graduation albums hold up ten years later. We also talk about Carl's excellent roundup piece interviewing younger rap artists about their own favorite Graduation-related stories and feelings, and theorize about which two rappers could potentially have a similarly captivating sales showdown in 2017.

Listen below, and be sure to check back every week to see which classic artists, albums and songs are Coming Around Again.
