Soul Sisters Podcast: Allison Pierce

Allison Pierce joins this week's episode of Soul Sisters to explain how initially her "heart was broken by the music business just countless times" when she and her sister Catherine recorded together as The Pierces a decade ago. Although they had popular singers like Lana Del Rey as fans, Pierce recalled that they felt like nobody bought their record.

Now back with her first solo album, Year of the Rabbit, she is ready to have another go at it. "The rabbit in Chinese astrology symbolizes hope -- and who doesn't need a little bit of that?" she laughs.

Listen as Pierce tells hosts Jessie Katz and Darah Golub about how being in a band with her sister made for a "very complicated relationship" and extols the virtues of ayahuasca, a drug whose hallucinogenic trips Pierce describes as "so worth it."
