Welcome to the Coming Around Again podcast, the new member of the Pop Shop family, where host Andrew Unterberger and a variety of guests will be discussing notable anniversaries being celebrated in the music world.

We've talked about a number of classic 1997 albums on the podcast this year, but today, we're taking on a much different 20-year old beast: The Batman & Robin soundtrack, a top 10 hit on the Billboard 200 that spawned three top 10 singles on the Hot 100 -- more than any other Batman OST -- but is mostly interesting today as a messy, sprawling cultural artifact.

Kevin Rutherford, Billboard's rock charts manager, joins Coming Around Again this week to share his Batman & Robin-related memories and discuss what a weird and sporadically wonderful set the film's soundtrack was. We also discuss the Smashing Pumpkins' mid-'90s chart dominance, recall Jewel's oft-forgotten roots in angsty alt-rock, and swap our favorite scenes from Batman & Robin, which has (sort of) held up decades later as a camp classic.

Listen below, and be sure to check back every Thursday to see which classic artists, albums and songs are Coming Around Again!
