Austra Talks 'Future Politics'; Plus Katy Perry, Mariah Carey & More on Must-Hear Music Podcast

Renata Raksha

On the latest Must-Hear Music podcast, Austra's Katie Stelmanis swings by the Billboard office for a wide-ranging chat on everything from the electro-pop outfit's new album Future Politics to loving someone with depression (which informed Austra's sublime new song "I Love You More Than You Love Yourself") to whether the future will look like Star Trek or some dystopian hell. She also gives some reading recs, including the economics manifesto Inventing the Future: Postcapitalism and a World Without Work (which inspired Future Politics) and the sci-fi book Woman on the Edge of Time.

Before my chat with Austra (which you can listen to below at the 25:30 mark), the Must-Hear Music crew (Joe Lynch, Jason Lipshutz and Natalie Weiner) talks about Katy Perry's return with "Chained to the Rhythm" featuring Skip Marley, Mariah Carey's "I Don't" featuring YG, Jidenna's gorgeous "Bambi" and MUNA's "End of Desire."
