Sabrina Carpenter on Pop Shop Podcast

Welcome to the new episode of the Billboard.com Pop Shop Podcast, Billboard's weekly audio breakdown of the Billboard charts, hottest music news and year's biggest musical events. Casual pop fans and chart junkies can hear Billboard co-director of charts Keith Caulfield and Billboard.com senior editor Katie Atkinson every Tuesday on the Pop Shop Podcast, which can be streamed on Billboard.com or downloaded in iTunes (click here to listen to the previous Tuesday’s edition of the show or our special Hedwig interview with Darren Criss on Billboard.com).

On this week's episode, we caught up with Girl Meets World star and singer/songwriter Sabrina Carpenter to talk about her debut album and first-ever headlining tour.

Carpenter visited the Billboard L.A. office last month, just before the release of her sophomore album EVOLution. We talked all about her favorite tracks on the album, how it represents a real growth for her and her music and what she was most looking forward on her debut headlining tour, which is happening right now and wraps up Dec. 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Plus, given her breakthrough role on Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, we talked about what it meant to her to be part of the Disney Channel family tree and its legacy of musical superstars -- including one of her vocal inspirations, Christina Aguilera.

Following our interview in the office, Carpenter stuck around to play us three songs on Facebook Live and answer fan questions. Watch for yourself here:

Also on the podcast, we talk about the impact of Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles," featuring Gucci Mane, given its use in the latest viral-video craze, the #MannequinChallenge. Plus, The Chainsmokers have notched 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 -- but is their reign coming to an end?
