Pop Shop Podcast: David Bowie

Listen to the latest episode of Billboard.com's weekly charts breakdown.

Welcome to the latest episode of the Billboard.com Pop Shop Podcast, Billboard's weekly half-hour audio breakdown of the Billboard charts, hottest music news and year's biggest musical events. Casual pop fans and chart junkies can hear Billboard co-director of charts Keith Caulfield and Billboard.com senior editor Katie Atkinson every Tuesday on the free Pop Shop Podcast, which can be streamed on Billboard.com or downloaded in iTunes (click here to listen to the previous episode on Billboard.com).

On the latest episode, we remember the late David Bowie, who died on Jan. 10 at 69 after an 18-month battle with cancer. Keith and Katie discuss their memories of Bowie’s music, favorite songs, his biggest hits, seeing the rock icon live, and even visiting the stunning David Bowie Is exhibition. Plus: the Pop Shoppers chat about the possibility of Bowie’s new album, Blackstar (which was released on Jan. 8), debuting at No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart. (The team also recalls Bowie's first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, "Fame," which topped the list in 1975.)

Further, we gab about Justin Bieber’s jump to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Sorry” (and his continued success with “Love Yourself”) and how Twenty One Pilots is steadily climbing the chart with “Stressed Out.” Plus, Adele’s 25 refuses to depart the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 for a seventh straight week. It becomes just the second album by a woman to tally its first seven weeks at No. 1. Who was the first? Find out on the show!

Lastly, there is talk about Lady Gaga’s win at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 10, where the diva took home the trophy for best performance by an actress in a limited series or a motion picture made for television (for American Horror Story: Hotel). Gaga thus joined an elite group of performers who have notched a No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and also collected a Golden Globe award for acting.
