Ashley Monroe performs at the Ashley Monroe And Friends concert presented by SiriusXM at The Basement East on July 22, 2015 in Nashville, Tenn.

After a great response to the Alt In Our Stars’ first foray into country -- Country Music Is Changing (And Here’s How) -- we’re excited to drop our second episode on that tip.

Before kicking off her 2015 Fall U.S. tour at Bowery Ballroom, Ashley Monroe stopped by the Billboard office for a chat with host Chris Payne.

Funny and engaging, Monroe gives a great first-hand look into what it’s like being a sought-after songwriter in Nashville these days. She talks about recording her poignant 2015 album The Blade at Vince Gill’s home studio, and then, inspired by the Amy Winehouse documentary, ponders what it would be like if she wrote an album completely free of collaborators (think minor chords)

Past Episodes: Beach Slang | Butch Vig | Majical Cloudz | Bully | The Wonder Years | Candy Hearts | Potty Mouth

Speaking of collaborators, she thinks we’ll eventually hear some new music from the Pistol Annies, her band with Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley

“I think definitely there’s going to be more music. I just don’t know when. We started several songs and we have so many that we haven’t even recorded yet. I think next year we’re going to be doing something, I just don’t know what.”
