Sonar 2016 Lineup: ANOHNI, New Order, Fatboy Slim & More Set for Barcelona Festival

With 28 days until Christmas, and seven months until Sónar 2016, the Barcelona electronic music and digital arts festival has announced its first round of performers along with a special “SónarGift” pack for holiday giving.

ANOHNI, an alias for Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons, will present the European premiere of HOPLESSNESS, the project with producers Oneohtrix Point Never and Hudson Mohawke. John Luther Adams’ climate change opera Become Ocean will also have it’s European premiere during the festival, set to take place June 16,17 and 18.

New Order, John Grant and Fatboy Slim will also perform at the 23rd Sónar in Barcelona. Grime MC Skepta, experimental ambient dub from King Midas Sound and Fennesz, and Master at Work DJ Kenny Dope are among others named in the festivals first line-up announcement.

Sóbar also annouced a holiday-themed discount ticket package wil go on sale on Black Friday. It features general pass for all festival days “plus a number of exclusive surprises,” price at 180€ (about $191).
