The Avett Brothers, Hozier, Ludacris and Young the Giant are among the headliners at this summer's 6th annual LouFest in St. Louis. The festival again returns to Forest Park's Central Field on Sept. 12-13 and will also feature The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, Billy Idol, Fun.'s Nate Ruess, Umphrey's McGee and Lord Huron.

The festival, produced by Listen Live Entertainment and C3 Presents, typically peppers the lineup with a few local acts and this year the honors go to acclaimed singer-songwriter Pokey LaFarge, indie rock act American Wrestlers and pop-rock trio Clockwork.

Tickets go on sale today at 7 a.m. ET through www.loufest.com/tickets. Two-day passes cost $95 while VIP passes are $350. Kids 12 and under get into the festival for free, with a ticketed adult.

Last year's event drew record crowds for a lineup that included OutKast, Arctic Monkeys, Future Islands and Portugal. The Man.

LouFest is pretty much all there is when it comes to large-scale music festivals in the Gateway City, though that was supposed to change this year. Los Angeles-based ICM Partners swooped in a year ago with promises of two "world-class outdoor high-quality music festivals" to be held downtown -- a country-themed event over Memorial Day and a Lollapalooza-styled rockfest on Labor Day. Despite being given exclusive access to the area over both of those weekends by the city, neither festival materialized. The deal has been blamed for numerous smaller events leaving downtown for the suburbs.
