Spoon are one of the most consistently awesome bands in indie rock, so it wasn’t too surprising that their just-after-dark set was a squeaky-clean collection of jams from their numerous standout records. Britt Daniel and company announced a new album (“They Want My Soul,” due Aug. 5) during the week, so of course, they played a new track from it, which sounded like a no-nonsense continuation of their winning musical formula. The set’s next-to-last track, “The Underdog,” earned the Texas band the warmest reception, though deeper cuts like “Small Stakes” and “The Beast and Dragon” adored were killer just the same.
