Plain White T's 'Forget' Cee Lo Green

Mashup Mondays: Plain White T's

Plain White T's use sunny acoustic guitars and falsetto harmonies to get poppy with Cee Lo Green's catchy retro-soulful hit, "Forget You," in this week's installment of Mashup Mondays.

"It's like three chords which makes things easy and [PWTs'] Mikey [Retonto], it fits his voice really well," says guitarist Tim Lopez of covering Green's jam telling off an ex and her new beau, which reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and remains No. 3 with a bullet this week.

Chicago's Plain White T's may hail from a totally different part of the music world than Atlanta's Cee Lo Green, but both the pop rock band and the neo-soul hitmaker have seen the upper reaches of Billboard's charts. Plain White T's took "Hey There Delilah" all the way to No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2007, while Green notched a No. 2 with "Forget You" and he also earned a No. 2 showing in 2006 for "Crazy" as part of Gnarls Barkley.

Plain White T's, meanwhile, have a request for Cee Lo: "'Broken Record' is a song on our new record ["Wonders of the Younger"] that I think Cee Lo could kill," PWT's singer/guitarist Tom Higgenson says. "Cee Lo, please cover our song."
